Ati Ling was established in 1987 as the Bay Area branch of the Chagdud Gonpa Foundation (CGF), a Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist center in the Nyingma tradition. In 1992, after completing the traditional three-year retreat, Jigme Tromge Rinpoche was appointed resident lama of Ati Ling. Based at the Padmasambhava Peace Institute since 2004, Ati Ling is a residential community focused on practising and maintaining the wealth of lineages received from many lamas including H.E. Chagdud Rinpoche and Tromge Jigme Rinpoche. We welcome visitors and practitioners from all backgrounds irrespective of race, religion, nationality, class, age (children also welcome) or gender. We are an LGBT-friendly community.
Following the example of Guru Padmasambhava and many superb lineage masters, we perform Vajrakilaya to overcome outer, inner, and secret obstacles to dharma practice and activity. We apply the skillful means of wrathful compassion to our own minds.
